Meet Doug
Doug Wahl - Special Projects Consultant

I moved to Wilmington in 2006 after accepting a job as Managing Editor for WECT-TV. I am an award broadcast journalist and spent 20 years traveling the country. I have worked at television stations in Michigan, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Louisiana, and North Carolina. I contacted the Clinic for Special Children after reading an article from a Canadian newspaper, that reported that a mall in Toronto had launched Quiet Visits with Santa. I reached out to the Clinic to see if they would like to team up with me to start something similar in Wilmington. That was in 2014, and just like the line from Casablanca, it was the start of a beautiful friendship. Since then I have helped launch Haircuts and Hayrides and currently am working with the Clinic on a number of different projects. I have a huge heart not just for special needs kids, but also for their families. I left journalism after becoming a single father and am now the marketing director for a local real estate firm.

Personal fun facts: In my spare time I am both an avid golfer and writer. My first book, Gradually to God, Finding Faith at the Crossroads, was published in 2011.
